From the start, got the truck in August of 2013 clean overall. The truck has 186.000 miles on original 6.5L hard to believe, still runs smooth and reliable but just not enough power for me. (And it don't have a bed on it yet) so that problem is being addressed.

Here it is when I went to pick it up.

I like the interior of this one as most are work truck only models.

On the engine I kept going back and fourth on to leave it alone or go thru it.. So long story short I took it all the way down.

After taking the internals to the machine shop everything checked out good. Put new bearings and rings in and reassembled bottom end then got to thinking again. 180hp would that be good enough for me, nope so back to the drawing board again,

Ended up going with ARP main studs, ARP head studs, Hamilton 188/220 cam, 5x12 injectors, having injection pump rebuilt plus upgrades, getting a new Holset HX Super 40 built, a few Banks parts then started putting back together.

After the engine it was on to accessories. First thing was I wanted to get rid of the vacuum pump and have just power steering pump. Got a adaptor from a cummins 4bt engine and a new ac delco power steering pump, for the 98HD and bolted right together.
Next was A/C and alternator, I've read that they is room for the dodge mount but wanted to free up some room at the bottom so I went with the mid mount setup from a F700 5.9. Found a rebuilt sanden U4474 compressor for a good price.
Alternator was from F700 truck had it rebuilt and wired for GM style wiring.
The problem with the medium size truck mid mount brackets is the centerline of the pulleys are 1 groove different than the dodge stuff so that has to be careful choosing.
Transmission... Don't have one yet but I know what I want, got everything but the gearbox. Fuller FSO6406 or FSO8406.
Flywheel, flywheel houseing, clutch, starter all from a F700. Had the flywheel re ground looks new, starter rebuilt same again.

For those who has done this swap knows it doesn't happen overnight, and the part of funding this kinda project can get into the wallet in a hurry. So that being said I'm into the engine for three months now and haven't got into the truck yet. But with warmer weather and longer daylight hopefully I can get on with it.
More pics to come soon...

U know I haven't payed any attention to the calipers, it did start life as a roll back with a JerrDan aluminium bed. It does have a neat switch that ups the engine rpm to 1100 rpm, but I guess I will lose that feature with the Cummins. If I do need it I could make a manual throttle pull.

Little update.. Motor has been done awhile, too much going on with work. Got front end off, then old6.5, took cab off then tweaked the crossmember some. Got spare block and FSO8406 bolted together and set in right alignments, reset the cab three times a little mild bending of the pinch welds trimmed hole in floor board and it fit like a glove!!
Next build a trans xmember and weld in motor mounts and so on.
