Power washed all the junk off of the section of the rear that's staying, then got it this far today.

 ? Is the Dana 80 10 lug rears in HD  Are  they Equal to the AAM 8 lug Axel  ?

Hey Kodiak, if you're referring to the AAM 11.5 then there are some pretty comparable features but I believe the GM Dana 80 still "takes the cake". Both axles can be had with 4" axle tubes and disc brakes, AAM having usually a larger disc. GM Dana 80 uses a 2" 37 spline axle shaft while the AAM uses a 1.56" 30 spline. Both are full floaters but use different methods of attachment. GM 80 has a splined end that slips inside the end with a retaining cap while the AAM uses a bolt on method. Dana 80 lockers usually run on the cheaper side. Both axles seem to have the same GAW rating.

93 C3500HD long wheel base parts truck 14' bed 6.5(gone)/NV4500HD/D80 4.63
95 C3500HD medium wheel base 11' bed 6.5/4L80E/D80 4.63
2000 C3500HD Monroe extended cab 9' bed, 6.5/4l80E/D80HD 4.63 will become 4wd with D70 front and repowered some day...
