350 engine vs NV4500 (weight)
« on: November 29, 2015, 03:15:17 PM »

Setting up the driveline for my Chevy 3500HD dually truck project. It's a 350 TPI engine with NV4500 5sp tranny behind it.  Have a single chain connected to the rear of both heads and it balances :-*   Guess that tranny weighs the same as a SBC!

Did you ever weigh them? My guess is the extra length of the bellhousing/clutch/tranny/parking brake combo compensated with leverage for the slightly lower weight of it all than the engine. Still pretty neat to see though. :)
