King Pin R&R ?
« on: November 26, 2015, 07:20:30 PM »
Have a 94/95 3500HD suspension with a loose king pin on the passenger side. Drivers side is tight.

Was given the correct king pin set (king pins, thrust bearings, shims, locking bolts etc)

Anyone replace the king pins on a 94/95 vintage 3500HD? Was it straight forward or were special tools needed?

Heard of using a bottle jack with socket smaller diameter than king pin and pushing the socket from the bottom up using vehicles weight (and some pounding but no heat) to force it up. I have a lathe and could make a bushing driver?

Thanks

Haven't had to do them myself but I believe Nick (MrBeast) did his on the white '94 and fabricated some new cuss words doing it.

I too have never done them on an HD but I've done enough trucks and tractors to know that it's money well spent to have it done!  I had my 95 and 2000 both done this year and it was 1000 and change out the door each time including an alignment with camber re-set by bending the axle.
