My name is Shawn and I have a 3500HD affliction...
« on: March 09, 2016, 11:09:11 PM »

...it's been less than 2 months since my first 3500HD purchase and I now have a second truck;
'94 Dump, 135.5, 7.4, Manual w/PTO hydraulic, single owner, stored winters, 72000 miles, reworked and ready to work  ;D

It was a splendid run home to Michigan from Cleveland today !  I have a renewed appreciation for the gas powered big block trucks.  I can't wait for the ground to dry up a bit so I can start road building on the woodlot.  Flush, clean, tune, prep, and maybe paint too.

My wife encouraged this purchase and made the trip with me, it doesn't get any better, I see a weekend for her at a hotel with a heated pool soon.

Nice! '95, so it's a double frame?

There's more about these trucks that I don't know than I do.  By double frame, if you mean reinforced or plated no, neither the '94 or '95 that I have is so equipped.  I've only seen reinforcements on the long wheelbase, there's one that was sitting in the weeds near me but it was a wreck with a non-running 7.4 because mice chewed up the wiring and it was a hacked 1500 cab that had been bolted up to the chassis and more than I wanted to tackle.

Most of the 94 and newer I have seen out west have the frame reinforcement plates regardless of wheelbase. The 91-93 years seem to have a lot less of them. I believe they were optional but I do not know at what point they started being offered or if they ever became standard either through certain dealers or GM. So many unknowns on these HD workhorses... but they are very addictive. I still have three of the four I've acquired over the past decade.   ::)
