Crew cab Hd's same as regular crew cabs ?
« on: October 15, 2016, 11:39:14 PM »
As the subject states
Can any one confirm or deny if the cabs are the same.

I have a 95 crew cab 3500hd & want to replace the cab.
I know they were converted from reg cabs.
Wanting to know if I can swap cabs from a regular 3500 crew cab.
I bought a newer truck for parts but don't have them side beside to compare.
My truck is roughly 350 miles away.
Hoping someone on here can help me out.
Thanks in advance.

Man, tough question.  Since you don't have them together to compare, I'd say start by measuring between the cab mounts front to rear, and maybe get a picture of the bottom end of the rear cab wall to show the profile where it meets the frame...then someone can hopefully provide same info from their crew HD.

What year is your donor cab, by the way?

Richard
I thought for sure you or someone on here would be able to answer that.
Kinda worried since I'm hearing carpets are different.
My HD is titled as a 95. I actually have 2 truck cabs to choose from.
One is a 99 & I think the other is a 98 or 99.
Not that it matters but one was gas & the other diesel.
Leaning toward the diesel for emission reasons but I could also swap vins.
Plan was to remove cab from my hd before bringing it home.

No trucks available to me to measure or take pics.  Sadly my yard has been closed since 2010!  I miss it all the time, but other opportunities presented themselves and I had to at least give it a try.
