That is interesting. If you go to the following (Mexican) link you will see that they list 2006 trucks in various body styles:

Reminds me of the run Mexico made of the VW bugs years ago, folks in the US were sending their old bugs to Mexico to be "rebuilt". In Mexico the VIN plates from the old VW was welded in the new VW and imported for example a brand new 1979. I remember seeing them at the Carlisle car show for about 13K..pretty sure the US govt put a halt to it.

I suspect those 3500HD trucks in Mexico were built in Brazil.

Haha wow...that brochure pic is definitely an "artists rendering" if you notice it looks like it has a solid 4x4 style front axle, and while the big 5 lug pattern is on the wheel, it doesn't look like a 19.5" wheel, more like 16" or 17" and you can see right through to the hand holes with no interruption from a brake rotor.  It's definitely sporting the Mexico market style emblem in the middle of the grille though; I've seen it many times in the GMC style grille with Chevy emblem in the middle on Mexico market 88-98 light trucks that make their way over here.  Those are 96-up models yet still have a TBI engine.

Ed's link to the actual trucks for sale is pretty interesting!  I noticed several 2005, 2006 had what looks like an 8.1 Vortec same as our 2001-2002's got, and another didn't have the picture of the engine but the ad clearly indicated a 5.7 Vortec, an option we'd have never seen in U.S. HD production.  Also noticed several of those 8.1's were converted for LP gas use.

One ad said the engine was a 5.8L but that doesn't match up with anything...wonder if it was a 5.7?  Bad pic of the engine but it sure looked like the 8.1 intake from what little I could see.

An interesting note?  Didn't see a single diesel in that group.

Awesome, always exciting to see and learn this stuff. When I was in Mexico last year I saw an HD with a camper body. Didn't look to be newer than 2002 though

Huh, guess I'm not the only one silly enough to think painting the extension like that was a good idea...
