3500HD 4x4 (ex-Tavern) on eBay UK
« on: December 09, 2011, 08:02:18 AM »
I didn't know if anybody was interested in this. Its the same UK MoD type of 3500HD 4x4 as my project for sale on eBay UK.

This guy ended up buying 12 or 15 of them I think...

I've replied to your PM, but I can answer any questions you need to.

Note to rebuild, Barn on here used a stock LHD donor truck. I've used an already butchered RHD conversion and made things difficult for myself.

Which do you think is harder - working with a butchered RHD-converted donor, or learning to drive from the "wrong" side of the truck? ;D

Sonofabitch EVERYBODY is on the wrong side of the road, are they drunk? ;D ;D ;D

What do the zig-zag lane marker lines mean?  Swerve?

Ah, the RHD is great for UK roads, but I'll use my truck a fair amount of the time in Europe, which means I'll then be sat on the wrong side! I'm used to driving the LHD F350 in the UK and my other RHD cars on the right in Europe, so it's no big deal. learning to drive LHD/RHD on an auto is easy. Where I struggle is driving stick shift LHD rental cars when I'm abroad. I still try to pull away on third everytime I stop.

As mentioned to north2007 on the PM, the Tavern is a pretty 'incomplete' RHD conversion, so a LHD cab donor would be a good idea.
On the Tavern a standard LHD wiring loom is used, with an extension to the gauge cluster and lighting switch, so remove the extension and you have a relatively useable loom. Also the batteries, air box and brake master cylinder are still in the standard LHD positions. Really the only major work would be rebuilding the steering bow back into the standard LHD position. To know what to do there you'd have to talk to Barn on here.

With my RHD conversion i've had to re-make 90% of the loom, move the brake master cylinder, move the batteries, move the airbox, re-plumb the AC, re-plumb the steering, brakes, cooling and air pipework. I've also done a large amount of work on my dashboard, as it seems that when the RHD conversion was done on my donor truck that they used a nice new RHD dash shell and pretty much lashed everything underneath up. More work than is worthwhile.

Oh, Richard, not even i'm sure what the zig-zag lines mean, no parking near the crossing I think?! Mind you, at least we only run the risk of geeting locked up when driving drunk, some of your states are less forgiving!

I've noticed it's actually £950, which is $1,475 in todays money. Not bad for a drive train with a little over 8000 miles on the clock!
