I just bought a 1997 Chevy 3500HD. It has 6.5L, NV4500, PTO hydraulic pump and an altec bucket. The bucket was removed but the boom and hydraulics are intact. I want to add a winch to the boom and use it like a crane.

I am trying to find manuals or hydraulic schematics for the bucket. Any help is greatly appreciated. I will try to post some pics of the name plates after I get the paint off of them.

Keep in mind that boom was designed for a max capacity of 250lbs, some were 500lbs but your truck probably doesn’t have any outriggers. Most winches if not all will be capable of hoisting far more that the boom is capable of. Even a full size line truck with 42’-100’ boom and factory material handler and winch is rated at only 2,000 lbs hoisting capacity.

The lift is an Altec AT200A. Does anybody have any manuals for this model? Preferably schematics.

I am aware of what is needed to make this truck function as a crane. What I need to make that easier is a hydraulic and electrical schematics. I have started the process of tracing everything out and taking out unnecessary components. It would just go much faster if I had diagrams to work from instead of tracing everything out. It would also help if the wiring and name plates were not misted with white paint.
