Wow, that is a nice solid looking bumper/guard combo, nothing ugly about it to me. Of course around here we pretty much all need solid bambi thumpers due to how many forest goats commit vehicular suicide on the roads. Good job on that one, indeed!

Thanks for the feedback.  Winter slowed me down a bit but I finally started my tear down this weekend.  I mocked up my old Ramsey bumper and I see pros & cons, it can work but I'll spend some more time learning about the dimensions and mounting requirements of at least a 12,000 lb. winch before I commit to building a better bumper.  The original chrome bumper looks nice but it doesn't offer much protection, here in Michigan there are nearly 50,000 reported vehicle-deer crashes a year, I've steered around a lot of hazards but I find the steering and responsiveness of a 3500HD about as nimble as a brick !

Yup, that's why this bumper came about.

Hey, organiclogfarmer.... Smittybuilt now makes a waterproof 17,500lb winch for only $699. I own a Warn winch, tabor 9k, that I used for my wrangler. Wrangler weighed half what the winch was rated for and even sometimes it seemed I needed a bit more. Warn is my first choice for winches but smittybuilt builds a great winch for an awesome price. I feel they are second to warn. Only reason I say so is I've really abused Warn winchs without ever taking life out of them. My buddy has a smittybuilt and has never had a single issue

Okay, so the other truck will be a parts truck from here on out, and I'll be updating this thread.

With that said, I'm half way finished swapping an Allison 1000 in place of the 5-speed behind the Cummins.

Also just picked up a Dana 70HD that I'll be turning in to a front axle, and the truck will go back to being spring-over.

Have a bunch of pictures, but going to have to load them to photobucket to get them up here a little easier.

Just changed the picture allowed count to 10 if that helps, do I need to change the picture size?

Just looked through my pictures, and it seems they're all close to the limit individually on my phone, most being in the 4.5mb range.
