C/K 3500-HD 4x4 Drivelines
« on: December 18, 2010, 04:12:53 PM »
There were more than a few different driveline combinations used by the After Market Upfitting Companies, but however, there are a couple fairly standard drivetrain options.

The most common that I've seen, was used a lot by Monroe truck, as well as a few others.

It is a 4wd 4L80E or NV4500, with a Borg Warner 4401/4470 transfer case. The tailhousing on the case had a custom provision for the driveline brake. These trucks also utilized the open knuckle, 10-lug hub Dana 70HD (uses a larger inner-C casting)

I have learned that the 10-lug hub is simply a standard Dually hub, with the wheel stud flange machined down and the 10-lug hub adapter slid over top. It was attached using Allen head bolts through the back, to hold both the adapter and brake rotor.

There were a handfull of oddball setups as well.

A member here has an HD with a Dodge Driver side drop 29 spline case, coupled to the GM 32 spline transmission.

There were a few trucks that utilized a Divorced NP205, in either a Driver or Passenger side drop, depending on what axle was used. These trucks commonly came with an 8-lug Dana 60 and 8-lug 19.5" wheels.

Again, if anyone has more information or feels parts of it are incomplete, please fill in the blanks and I'll put it in order.

Thanks!
