This is a scan of the SAE Technical papers document on the 3500HD design, from 1990.  I paid for this paper from SAE and when I recently went to look at it online, they had me locked out?  Call me a little peeved that they've cheated me out of a paper I PAID for...I scanned my printed copy and have it hosted here:

It's fairly interesting if you care about the history of HD's, some cool stuff in there.  A lot less detail than what I would like but it's cool to see "official" info like this.

that is too cool, thanks for buying and sharing.

that article is full of ideas not used these days IMHO, the words quality, reliability, longevity, etc. were used often in that paper, and it held true too!

that is something about the 5 speed trans, not available initially, but still in production soon enough to still be a 1991.
