Perfect Exhaust Part for the conversion...
« Reply #30 on: January 02, 2014, 01:55:35 PM »
When I installed the 5.9 in my HD, there was one thing I could never make work perfectly, the exhaust routing. I made the truck driveable by using flex pipe, but it was just not right! The exhaust out of the turbo uses a 45 degree elbow, OE Dodge. This leads to the exhaust being close to the a/c dryer and the firewall, not cool. I have looked and looked for a 90 degree elbow without success, just knowing given the wide applications of the Cummins motors, I knew (if I could find it) that Cummins would build an OE part that would work perfectly. Everyone told me to use a Cobra head, which did not work because it is 4" instead 3" and by the time you install a 3 to 4 adapter it was too long.

The fix is (drum roll please!) Cummins #3626235. 90 degree, 3" in and out and makes a nice wiggle that gets the exhaust away from the frame. The dealer wants $500 plus, I found one for $314 delivered on fleabay. I still do not have an application for it, but if someone can find out, it will make a used one alot easier to find...

Could it be possible this part is used on a Marine engine setup?  I like how it looks!

I am running a nv4500 crossbreed. A HD tranny with a Cummins bellhousing and input shaft.

same nv4500 crossbreed,  hd trans with a dodge input shaft and bellhousing

if you are still looking for a motor/trans  look at the medium duty setups,  most of the non air trucks have a driveline brake...

5.9 cummins and fuller 6 speed combos came in Freightliners

another setup that would be similar and stronger is a dt360 IH, with a spicer 7 speed, the smaller IH trucks had this combo, dt360 is a small dt466, 5.9 liter and p7100 injection pump...
