I have the opportunity to buy a clean 1994 with 5 spd. This is a 6.5 diesel with a blown engine. I would like to hear your recommendations as to rebuilding the 6.5, swapping in a 6.0, 7.4 or 8.1. Thank you much.

Welcome to the forum....I'm interested in hearing the responses myself! You may as well let us know what mechanically is wrong with the engine.

Well I am not sure. It was pulled and is sitting on the flatbed. I was only told it was blown up. I should add, I am not opposed to a cummins swap either, how as I understand the 94 tranny will not work.

It works.. just swap input and mainshaft. Check out my build thread here... http://3500hd.com/index.php?topic=738.0 You won't regret it!

certainly makes me lean towards a cuummins. I was also looking at 453T Detroit. I for sure can't see spending $3000 to rebuild the 6.5.

I have a 4-53T here that's a low mile reman engine.  I was planning on installing it in my 98 Crew cab.  I have since picked up a 6v53T and im installing it instead.  I would be willing to sell the 4-53T (I already modded the oil pan and pickup to fit in an HD).  PM me if your interested.  I also have a jake brake spacer and aluminum valve cover for it.  I also have a crank shaft adapter and a bell housing adapter to bolt it directly to a NV4500.  (the crank adapter I had made at a machine shop)  Ive got everything to hook you up if you wanna take that route.
